Competition Office: Natur Tanya may have misled consumers with claims about health effects
Due to the alleged violation of the prohibition of unfair commercial practices towards consumers, the Economic Competition Office (GVH) initiated a competition supervision procedure against Natur Tanya Hungary Kft. and Naturweb Kft. In its statement on Thursday, the competition authority indicated that, according to its suspicion, businesses are deceiving consumers with health, disease prevention and cure claims for several product categories advertised on their websites.
The GVH noticed that from January 1, 2022, businesses promoted dietary supplements, food, cosmetic products, and medical devices with health-related claims, the validity of which they probably cannot prove, and also used claims about prohibited or untrue medicinal effects. In addition, it was also noticed that the commercial practice of the companies by publishing the claims from January 1, 2022 probably did not meet the requirement of professional care, they said.
