Entrance fees to the city of Venice will be charged again from April
In the city of Venice, entry will be charged again from April 18 on pre-determined days, with a slight increase in prices compared to last year, Simone Venturini, the head of tourism for the Venice municipality, announced at a press conference on Monday, emphasizing that entry will be free during the carnival.
Between April 18 and May 4, entry to the historic city center of Venice will be charged every day. After that, entry will be charged every weekend in May, June and July, which in most cases also includes Fridays in addition to Saturdays and Sundays.
For now, the paid entry system affects a total of fifty-four days, while last year it was applied on twenty-nine days.
A daily fee must be paid between 8:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon. Anyone arriving in the city earlier or later can enter for free.
The tariff will increase compared to 2024: if the daily fee is paid up to the fourth day before arrival, it will be five euros per person. If payment is left until the last three days before arrival, the price per person will be ten euros.
“Venice is one of the first to face the problem of mass tourism, which is why we introduced the paid entry system last year. The experiment worked, so this year we increased the number of paid days. Our goal has not changed: by regulating tourism, we try to curb the crowds of visitors arriving in the morning and leaving in the evening at certain times of the year, while maintaining quality services and protecting the extraordinary heritage of the city,”
emphasized Simone Venturini.
