Carrefour Italia reported sales of €1.77 billion in the first half of its 2025 financial year – a 3.7% decrease from the same period in 2024.
The company experienced a recurring operating loss of €40 million – unchanged, year on year – and a net loss of €81 million – an improvement from the €119 million loss in the first half of 2024. Overall, Carrefour Italia recorded a €275 million loss in 2024.
Carrefour also reported negative capital expenditures of €17 million and a negative net free cash flow of €165 million, ESM reports.
These financial results were disclosed as part of ongoing negotiations with NewPrinces Group for the sale of Carrefour’s Italian operations, in a deal valued at around €1 billion, with an expected closure by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
Carrefour Brasil
Carrefour Brasil’s second -quarter profit increased by 19.7%, year on year, reaching BRL 395 million (€61 million).
Consolidated profit rose by 19.4%, to BRL 467 million (€72 million), while net revenue grew by 5.4%, to BRL 31.23 billion (€4.8 million).
Carrefour Brasil’s board of directors has approved two loan agreements amounting to BRL 9.8 billion (€1.5 billion) with Carrefour Finance, the group’s financial entity. These agreements are part of the retailer’s debt-refinancing efforts in Brazil.
The first agreement, for up to BRL 9.05 billion (€1.40 billion), carries a 15.40% fixed interest rate per year and has a 36-month term, with potential extensions.
A second agreement, worth BRL 750 million (€116 million), was signed between WMS Supermercados do Brasil (a Carrefour Brasil subsidiary) and Carrefour Finance, under the same terms.
Additionally, the board has authorised the management to begin the process of early redemption and/or prepayment of all outstanding debentures.
This follows the April shareholder approval (59% vote) to delist Carrefour Brasil from the B3 stock exchange – a move resulting from the merger with the French parent company and the unification of its shareholder base, which concluded on 30 May.
Last month, Carrefour announced the appointment of Pablo Lorenzo as CEO in Brazil, succeeding Stéphane Maquaire
