Retail turnover finally expanded
In July the volume of retail increased for the first time since March 2007: by 1.7 percent if compared with July 2009. However, in the first seven months of 2010 retail turnover contracted by 3.8 percent. Domestic retail network and mail order companies generated sales of HUF 4,071 billion in the first seven months of 2010 – from this HUF 673 billion was realised in July. Food and food type products represented 45 percent of retail sales; the turnover of food stores decreased by 3.1 percent in January-July, but the volume of food retail turnover grew by 1.1 percent in July.
