Vegan supermarket in Vienna
Vegans in Vienna are now able to enjoy a supermarket whose grocery and other products caters exclusively to their dietary needs.
With vegan bakeries, cafes and restaurants already well-established, the city can now add its first vegan supermarket to the list of outlets targeted at its estimated 20-40,000 vegan population.
Owner Stefan Maran has been in the supermarket business for years, and says there is now a huge demand for a store such as this.
“The decision came as a pure gut feeling. At some point you get the right feeling for a target group. I am sure that now is the right time.”
Though prices are higher than a traditional store, it has a wide selection of goods.
Alongside fruit and vegetables, the supermarket features vegan-friendly soft drinks, wine, beers, dried fruit, seeds, nuts and even vegan sweets and cosmetics.
