Safety net for Hungarian consumers – broad cooperation with authorities
A comprehensive cooperation agreement has been signed by ministries and authorities playing a key role in the consumer protection institutional system in order to ensure faster and more coordinated action against unfair commercial practices against consumers, according to a statement from the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH).
The agreement was signed by the Ministry of National Economy, which is responsible for consumer protection, the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development, which is responsible for the operation of government offices, the NKFH, as well as the Hungarian National Bank, the Hungarian Competition Authority and the National Food Chain Safety Authority.
According to the statement, from 1 January 2026, an internal, common administrative interface will also support faster reaction and, in justified cases, immediate, coordinated action. The parties identified, among other things, the protection of children, consumer protection in the online space, and aspects related to sustainability and environmental protection as key focus areas.
