Shopping programmed genetically?

We asked professor Csányi if our passion for shopping is “programmed” in our genes. In his opinion, the colourful world of stores has an effect on us like coloured glass beads have on primates. It is no wonder store interiors are designed to appeal to the hunter in us. Shopping is still more of an experience than simple procurement. Most purchases are impulsive, with decision made primarily under the influence of visual effects, but music and fragrance can also be effective.
