US retail trade grew less than expected
The growth in US retail sales in April was slower than the expectations of the analysts.
The US Department of Commerce reported that the seasonally adjusted retail sales grew by 0.4 percent in April in a monthly comparision, after the 0.1 percent increase of March. Analysts reported a 0.6 percent increase in retail sales in April. Compared to April last year, retail sales grew by 4.5 percent.
In the United States, household consumption is responsible for two third of the economic performance. (MTI)
