Sales in the euro area grew stronger than expected
The European Union’s Statistical Office (Eurostat) said on Tuesday that according to the seasonally adjusted data, retail sales grew by 0.7 percent in the 19-member euro zone and by 3.7 percent in annual terms.
Analysts expected a 0.6 percent growth on a monthly basis and a 2.7 percent growth on year-on-year basis, after falling 0.1 percent in August compared to the previous month and a 2.3 percent growth in annual sales.
In the European Union, retail sales grew by 0.3 percent on a monthly basis and by 3.5 percent in annual comparision in September. (MTI)
