Mihály Varga: Karcag will be the center of Europe in the quick-frozen vegetables and fruits marke
From today, Karcag will be the center of Europe in the market for quick-frozen vegetables and fruits, thanks to the capacity expansion investment that AgroSprint Zrt. implemented in the city – the Minister of Finance announced at the handover of the company’s new quick-freezing plant on Tuesday.
Mihály Varga emphasized: the government has always believed in supporting those who see opportunities where others see problems. AgroSprint Zrt.’s operation so far and its more than three decades of development prove that it complies with this principle, he added.
The food supply of Hungarian families cannot depend on foreign markets, aiming to reduce the country’s exposure, the government prioritizes the creation of new food industry production capacities, he said, indicating that the 12 billion HUF investment in Karcag not only strengthens the city and the region, but the entire domestic industry. The Minister of Finance emphasized that the war, Brussels sanctions and the historic drought put agriculture in a difficult situation last year, which is why significant resources will be allocated to water management in next year’s budget. Speaking about the budget, the head of the ministry explained: it guarantees the country’s security, protects families, pensions, jobs, and utility reduction.
