Eurozone retail trade fell unexpectedly in July
Based on the data released by Eurostat, during July retail sales decreased by 0.2 percent within the euro area, after the stagnation of June. Analysts expected a 0.2 percent increase. On an annual basis the decline was 1.8 percent.
The situation is better if the whole of Europe is investigated. In July retail rose by 0.2 percent after also expanded 0.3 percent in the previous month. On an annual basis decline was 0.9 percent.
On a monthly level, food, beverage, and tobacco sales within the euro area decreased by 0.5 percent in the EU27 decreased by 0.1 percent – reports ProfitLine.hu.
