METRO Group: New competencies within Management Board
Frans Muller takes over as CEO of Metro Cash & Carry, the former director Thomas Hübner leaves for health reason.
Frans Muller joined METRO Group in 1997 as Country Manager for Makro Cash & Carry in the Netherlands. Later, as board member of Metro Cash & Carry, he was responsible for the regions Eastern Europe and Russia, as well as Asia/Pacific. In 2005 the Dutchman took over as head of the central procurement company, MGB Metro Group Buying. In this role he joined the Management Board of METRO Group a year later and became also responsible for logistics.
Now the METRO Group’s Supervisory Board determines new Management Board competencies. Thomas Unger additionally assumes responsibility for METRO Group’s property portfolio and Zygmunt Mierdorf will also be responsible for procurement and logistics.
"By integrating the position of Metro Cash & Carry’s CEO into the Management Board of METRO Group and reorganising the competencies therein, we can strengthen the Group and thus lay the foundation for the further value-orientated development of the company", said Dr. Eckhard Cordes, CEO of METRO Group.
