Hungarian agricultural vocational training offers real opportunities for young people
The transformation process of agricultural vocational training has reached a milestone. This year, the first students who have already mastered the basics of the profession in the new, five-year technical school education will graduate. The modernization of agricultural vocational training and the establishment of centers have created new opportunities for young people, emphasized András Tállai, the State Secretary for Food Economy and Agricultural Vocational Training of the Ministry of Agriculture, on Friday, at the ceremony held by the ministry on the occasion of Teacher’s Day at the Széchenyi Zsigmond Carpathian Basin Hungarian Hunting Museum in Hatvan.

András Tállai emphasized in his speech that the Ministry of Agriculture continues to participate in agricultural vocational training as the largest institution maintainer. Approximately 15 thousand students study in its schools in the agricultural and forestry and food industry sectors. The efficiency and modernization of agricultural training are supported by investments implemented in the Rural Development Program, the State Secretary emphasized. In the recent period, the government has provided more than 15.5 billion forints for the development of demonstration farms, training sites, teaching farms, and forestry knowledge centers belonging to agricultural vocational training centers. Educational institutions have purchased new equipment, agricultural, food industry, and forestry machinery, renovated buildings, and established training sites. All of this significantly contributes to the expansion of the knowledge base and the acquisition of the knowledge necessary for successful farming. Hungarian agricultural vocational training provides learning and livelihood for people living in the countryside, thus offering new and attractive opportunities, modernization, and sustainability. All of this is thanks to the fact that the government has implemented an efficient and flexible agricultural education system. The basis for this is the Agricultural Vocational Training Centers, the 5 centers are currently responsible for the operation of 52 agricultural schools, he added. The training and retention of specialists equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge is essential for the success of agriculture. The quality of teaching is ensured by the constantly renewed equipment and the teaching community – almost 3,400 people. In agriculture, the education of the future generation is literally a matter of life and death, but with the dedication of the teaching community, the results of the centers and the enthusiasm of young people, the future of Hungarian agricultural vocational training is in safe hands – emphasized András Tállai. He then thanked all those who work every day for the development of agriculture and the future of the countryside.
