Will the price of eggs continue to rise, or will it just become cheaper?
Based on a quick overview of Népszava, eggs were sold for 104-150 forints depending on size and quality in the larger grocery stores on Monday, but you can also get deep-laid eggs in private label packaging for 77-85 forints.

The price of eggs has increased a lot in just one week
In the case of the 250-gram semi-fat cow’s cottage cheese, you can save more than HUF 1,000 per kilo with the own-brand product. According to AKI data, the price per kilo of this packaging was HUF 2,283 last week, while the manufacturer’s brand cost HUF 3,363. The latter has more than doubled in price since the beginning of October last year, since its consumer price was HUF 1,398 at the time.
Last week, one kilo of producer-brand Trappist cheese cost HUF 4,462, which is a 117 percent increase compared to last year. In comparison, they asked “only” HUF 3,490 for the own-brand product. For the time being, it does not seem that the prices will moderate, the price of eggs, for example, jumped by 9.3-14.5 percent in the course of a single week, Népszava points out. According to the newspaper, there is little chance that prices would not increase further.
