Travel trends during the fall break: Hungarians extend their summer at the beach
Turkey, Cyprus and Egypt remain extremely popular, but more and more people are choosing more exotic destinations such as the Maldives, Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates.
During the autumn school holidays, many Hungarian families are looking for a summer atmosphere and travel to warmer seaside destinations. According to the latest booking data from TUI, seaside destinations are proving to be the most popular among Hungarian travellers during the autumn break. Trends show that the holiday season is being extended until November, as families enjoy the pleasant, summery weather in the late autumn months. According to TUI, the number of family bookings for the autumn break period has increased by almost 20 percent compared to last year.
Most popular destinations for the autumn break
This autumn’s absolute hit is Turkey: flights from Budapest to Antalya are already fully booked for the autumn break, and there are only a few places left to Izmir – on the Turkish Aegean coast. Cyprus is showing spectacular growth compared to last year, while Egypt remains firmly among the favorites.
Among the more distant destinations, demand has increased this year for the Maldives, Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates, which are becoming an attractive alternative for an autumn vacation for more and more Hungarian travelers.
“We are pleased to see that we have achieved a double-digit increase in the number of guests for this autumn period compared to last year,” said Tamás Taskár, Sales Manager at TUI Hungary. “The direct Austrian Airlines flight from Vienna to Malé is particularly popular, but many people also choose the scheduled flights from Budapest to combine exotic destinations – such as Zanzibar or Punta Cana – with hotels from our portfolio,”
he added.
According to TUI statistics, more than half of guests – 56 percent – book all-inclusive accommodation and spend an average of 1,140 euros per person on an autumn TUI holiday.
