Passenger and cargo traffic record at Budapest Airport
Budapest Airport recorded record traffic in August: more than 1.9 million passengers were registered at Liszt Ferenc International Airport, an increase of 7.7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the first eight months of this year, a total of 12.82 million passengers passed through the airport, which is 12.5 percent more than in the same period of 2024.
Air cargo traffic expanded even more dynamically: 35,032 tons of cargo arrived or departed from Budapest in August, which represents an increase of 35.5 percent year-on-year. Between January and August, the airport handled 270,775 tons of cargo, 46.5 percent more than a year earlier.
Based on the rolling twelve-month data (September 2024 – August 2025), the cargo volume handled increased to 385,584 tons. The statistics also include air truck transport, i.e. goods that are transported by dedicated road transport on behalf of airlines.
Based on the latest data, Liszt Ferenc Airport is further strengthening its regional role in both passenger and cargo traffic.
