Festive offerings at the capital’s markets – Easter 2026
This year, traditional smoked, tied ham is the hit, heart ham and peasant ham are the most sought after, but before Easter, the capital’s market halls await customers with an extremely wide range of smoked goods, the prices of which have not changed compared to last year. Of course, this year too, there is a large selection of eggs, cakes, fresh vegetables and sweets, as well as baking ingredients and decorative products, and flowers. During the festive period, we can still do our big shopping on Holy Saturday, as Budapest’s market halls, markets and shopping centers will be open.
This year’s food market season will really be opened by Easter shopping. The Budapest market halls await shoppers with a huge array of goods before Easter. The capital’s food markets and shopping centers operated by BUDAPEST VÁSÁRCSARNOKAI Kft. offer a wide range of goods in preparation for Easter in the six food market halls, six shopping centers and one non-food market operated by the Company, from cheaper but high-quality products to mid-price and premium products. Ten types of smoked ham and pork products, six types of smoked poultry products, six types of fresh, pre-chilled lamb products, three types of smoked beef, seven types of cakes, eggs, various cottage cheeses and dairy products, cheeses, and plenty of greens: sorrel, spinach, salads, radishes and onions await customers.
“Whoever likes ham, they can buy it from us! The extremely wide selection ensures that every dear customer will find the ham for the Easter table. This can be the deservedly popular, traditional smoked domestic tied ham, peasant ham or heart ham, it can be various, regionally flavored, spiced and smoked knuckles, thighs, ribs, loins or quick-aged products, but you can also choose domestic producer specialties, such as mangalica ham or smoked pork tenderloin. Italian ham specialties make the extensive selection special. In addition to the smoked pork product range, there is also a wide selection of smoked beef and poultry products, as well as lamb. We also offer eggs, month-old red and beer radishes, lettuce, iceberg lettuce, wild onions, spring onions and leeks, fresh and ready-to-eat horseradish, tomatoes, peppers, and lots of fresh greens. Cottage cheese and cheese products cannot be left out of the offer, as we can also choose from a wide variety of cake products for the Easter table. In addition, the customer can choose from a wide variety of decorations, ornaments, and gifts “

In this year’s offer, traditional smoked hams are still the most sought-after, among which many people are looking for the popular heart ham, which is distinguished from other hams by the way it is cut, but mangalica ham and various traditional and quick-aged cured ham products are also popular. This year’s specials are smoked pork tenderloin and smoked pork loin. The prices of smoked hams have not changed compared to last year, so the cheapest tied ham in the Great Hall costs 3,490 forints per kilo, traditional peasant ham costs 5,990 forints, and the price of heart ham also varies more this year, prices vary between 3,990 and 4,690 forints, depending on the quality, and these prices are lower than last year. The Óbuda market on Kórház Street primarily targets lovers of smoked goods, here smoked knuckles are available for 3,300 forints/kg, smoked knuckles without bones for 5,000 forints/kg, smoked ribs for 3,990-6,498 forints/kg, and sliced smoked thighs for 3,990-6,300 forints/kg. Mangalica ham is 8900 HUF/kg, smoked pork tenderloin is 8900 HUF/kg. It is also worth visiting for those who like other types of meat, who would like to choose ham other than pork, during the holidays, because smoked beef tongue is available for 3990-8500 HUF/kg, smoked goose breast fillet for 16998 HUF/kg, smoked duck breast fillet for 12000 HUF/kg, smoked duck leg for 9900 HUF/kg, smoked turkey leg for 3300 HUF/kg and smoked chicken breast for 4500 HUF/kg.
For premium products, it is worth visiting the Fehérvári út market, where you can also buy Parma ham aged for 24 months, and Parma ham sprinkled with truffle flakes costs 14999 HUF per kilo. The special San Danielle ham made from mangalica meat is priced at 25,999 forints, while the Zvarina ham made from free-range mangalica meat produced in the Po Valley is priced at 35,000 forints per kilo.
