Let’s celebrate June 10, International Ice Tea Day together!
Summer includes delicious, fruity, cool iced tea. Not surprisingly, at the beginning of the hottest season, this popular non-carbonated soft drink also had its own holiday. We also consume more than 10 liters per person per year in Hungary, one of the most popular drinks in the world.
The ice tea is due to a coincidence 100 years ago. It so happened that the World’s Fair was held in St. Louis in 1904, and there the English wanted to promote their favorite beverage, the black tea, among the Americans. However, it was extremely hot during the show and no one even wanted to drink hot tea for free. However, a British tea merchant, Richard Blechynden, came up with the idea to offer a drink called Iced Tea, chilled with ice cubes, which was one of the biggest successes at the World’s Fair.
