Counterfeiting accounts for more than 18,000 billion forints losses at EU level
According to the estimates of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), losses in counterfeiting and piracy in 11 economic sectors amount to 18,686 billion HUF per year at EU level, while the damage is 223.6 billion HUF in Hungary – EUIPO told MTI.
According to the latest EUIPO study, the total loss in the sectors concerned amounts to 7.4 percent of total turnover.
The report examined the 11 sectors most sensitive to IPR infringements. These are the cosmetic and personal care articles; clothing, footwear and accessories; sports articles; toys and playthings; jewelery and watches; handbags and suitcases; music recordings; spirits and wines; medicines; manufacturing and the trading of pesticides and smartphones.
