Kalocsai paprika powder under EU protection
The European Commission registered the “Kalocsai paprika powder” into the register of protected designations and protected geographical indications on July 3 – the Ministry of Rural Development (VM) told MTI on Friday.
The communication recalls that the Commission currently registers over 1,000 registered names in which only ten spices can be found and only five spice peppers are listed- including Kalocsai and Szegedi.
In the region of Kalocsa, the Kalocsai Fűszerpaprika Zrt. is the oldest representative of paprika processing and distribution. The story of the predecessors can be traced back to the 1930s. (MTI)
