Former sugar beet growers can get support with EU contribution
According to the informations of the EFE news agency, European Commission allowed that Spain, Slovakia and Hungary can get state support for sugar beet growers who were previously affected badly by EU reforms.
Those EU countries can get the support, where the sugar quota decreased by more than 50 percent. That means 39.6 million euros for Hungary, 58.9 million euros for Spain, 25.6 million euros for Slovakia as a maximum assistance.
In Hungary, the Ministry of Agriculture recently announced that the area of the four eliminated sugar factories can get rural development resources in the course of the diversification program – reports Origo.
