EU support for the restructuring of vineyards

The application deadline expired one of the most important element of the EU wine market support. The EU wine market support for this season is 29 million euros. Farmers could apply for the restructuring of vineyards – Horváth Csaba, the Secretary-General of the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) told MTI.

This is the basic element of the domestic plantation renewal, because there are only a few farmers who can perform this kind of investment without support, not due to the lack of intention, but rather due to the lack of capital.

Since 2004, through the subsidy 11,153 hectares of vineyards were renewed in Hungary. The renewal requirements are normally greater than the potential. In the last season, for example, a total of about 2,100 restructuring applications were submitted for almost 6,000 hectares, but due to the lack of resources, claims for around 2300 hectares had to be rejected.
