Real eyes Ukraine opening
Germany’s leading retailer, Metro Group, plans to open its first Ukrainian hypermarket in August under the Real brand. The new store will be the group’s first retail market in Ukraine, and will mark its continued blitzkrieg-style advance into Ukraine. Opening their first outlet in Ukraine in 2003, the German retail group now operates 23 METRO Cash & Carry wholesale outlets in cities scattered across the country.
METRO officials said the new Real hypermarket will be located in Kyiv, along the route to Odessa. It will encompass 12,500 square meters of space, including 8,500 square meters of retail space. The new store will employ 420 Ukrainians.
