Wizz Air resumes flights to Israel
Wizz Air will resume its flights between Tel Aviv and Budapest on August 8, a month earlier than planned, the airline announced. The reason for the restart is its commitment to the Israeli market and the recovery in travel demand.
Due to the conflicts in the Middle East in recent months, Wizz Air temporarily suspended its flights to Israel, but now that the situation has stabilized, several routes are being reopened. The Budapest flights will operate five times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays – between Tel Aviv and the Hungarian capital.
Ten destinations in eight countries
Wizz Air’s flights from Tel Aviv will serve a total of ten cities in eight countries: Larnaca (Cyprus), Milan and Rome (Italy), London (United Kingdom), Vienna (Austria), Bucharest and Iasi (Romania), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), as well as Budapest.
The remaining previously operated flights to Tel Aviv will resume on September 15. With the gradual resumption of flights, Wizz Air will become the largest non-Israeli European airline at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, at least in terms of seat capacity offered.
“We had a good reason to return”
“We returned and we had a good reason to do so. Our early return also shows our commitment to our Israeli passengers and to keeping the country in the tourist bloodstream,” said Olívia Harangozó, Wizz Air’s communications manager.
Tickets for the restarted flights are already available in the airline’s booking system. The restart is a significant step not only for tourism, but also for business travel in the region, especially in light of the increase in traffic scheduled for the autumn period.
