The new owners of the factory in Marosludas are restarting sugar production in Transylvania
Transylvania’s sugar production will be restarted by the new owners of the sugar factory in Marosludas, who would buy the sugar beet from the growers in the region – they told Agrointel.ro.
The sale of one of the last sugar factories in Transylvania was announced on Wednesday by the previous owner, the French company Tereos. The Maros county factory, which employs 150 employees, was bought by two Romanian entrepreneurs interested in the food industry, Mihaela Neagu and Mihail-Daniel Matache.
Mihaela Neagu told Agrointel.ro that the purpose of the investment is to restart sugar production in Transylvania. Last year, the businesswoman also bought the other Transylvanian sugar factory, which is still in operation, the plant in Botfalu, Brasó County.
