Sportswear made from recycled plastic waste from Lidl
Lidl has launched a new and environmentally friendly sports collection, which also offers an alternative to a more sustainable lifestyle. The special feature of sportswear is that recycled plastic waste collected on beaches and coastal regions has been incorporated into the fibers. Lidl thereby contributes to less waste entering the oceans. By choosing the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified Crivit sportswear that is periodically available, we can also contribute to the protection of resources.
Thanks to its practical properties, such as lightness and durability, plastic is present in many areas of our lives today. But the long life of this versatile material can also be a problem: if products and packaging made of plastic are not recycled, they end up in our environment as waste. One of the most affected ecosystems is the ocean, which is unfortunately particularly exposed to plastic pollution. To counter this, Lidl looked for a way to recycle part of the plastic waste.
Alternatively, the discount chain collects plastic waste on beaches and coastal regions together with its cooperating partners to prevent it from entering the sea. The waste is recycled by incorporating it into the fibers of Ocean Bound Plastic sportswear. This is how something new is born from the waste, a stylish and environmentally friendly sportswear. The pollution of coastal regions and oceans is thus reduced, and the waste in the environment is returned to the recycling cycle, contributing to the promotion of the circular economy.
