Metsä Board awarded EcoVadis Platinum rating again – among the top 1% of the world’s most sustainable companies in its category
Metsä Board, the leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards and part of Metsä Group, has once again achieved the highest Platinum level in the 2025 EcoVadis sustainability assessment. The company has achieved the highest level rating every year since 2017.
Metsä Board ranks among the top 1% of companies globally in the category of paper, paperboard, and packaging manufacturers with a score 91/100*. The company received high scores across all four assessment categories: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“Our customers place a high value on strong sustainability performance. Our consistent top performance in the EcoVadis assessment year after year reflects our dedication to environmental and social responsibility. We have recently updated our 2030 sustainability targets and climate transition plan to further support our customers in achieving their own sustainability goals, such as reducing the carbon footprint of packaging solutions,” says Esa Kaikkonen Metsä Board’s CEO.
The EcoVadis platform enables companies to assess the sustainability performance of their suppliers globally. The evaluation covers four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
The methodology and criteria used are in line with international sustainability standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
