Two months after the flooding of the salt mine and the subsequent forced closure, the Wellness Center Praid is once again welcoming visitors. From Saturday, the spa in Székelyföld will operate on a “vacation schedule,” open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., reported Maszol.

The complex closed its doors on June 2 after the Praid salt mine was flooded, which led to evacuations and traffic restrictions in the area. Initially, the closure was planned only until June 12, but due to the consequences of the mining disaster, the shutdown lasted much longer. On its social media page, the Wellness Center Praid has now expressed gratitude to visitors for their patience and support.

Alongside the salt mine, the Wellness Center Praid is the town’s most visited attraction, known for its salty thermal water sourced from a depth of 1,000 meters. Residents who had been evacuated were allowed to return to their homes on August 13, when traffic restrictions were lifted. However, the landslide-prone areas above the old mine and the work sites in the Korond Valley remain closed to the public.

With the reopening of the center, local tourism can also breathe a sigh of relief: the facility attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year, and the closure of the salt mine represented a significant loss for the summer season.
