The liquidation of the affected herd began today. Experts have designated a 3 km radius protection zone around the farm, and have also established an expanded surveillance (observation) zone. Nébih draws the attention of animal keepers that avian influenza is still present in the country It may reappear in areas where the disease has previously been eradicated. Epidemiological discipline must not be relaxed anywhere, as the risk of avian influenza entering poultry farms can only be minimized by strict and consistent adherence to biosecurity measures.
