You can buy cold food with your SZÉP card again

As of January 1, 2024, SZÉP cards will no longer be eligible for the purchase of cold food, which has posed a serious problem for families, as they cannot use the available benefits to purchase daily consumer goods, while the cost of living is constantly increasing. The government gave an evasive answer to the Jobbik MP’s question, emphasizing how successful the official margin reduction has been and how good the card’s effects are on tourism and economic development, for example. After the fantastic flying start, it seems that Fidesz-KDNP is forced to take the interests of families into account again, as Minister Gergely Gulyás announced today that it will once again be possible to buy cold food with the SZÉP card. On the one hand, we welcome the decision, but on the other hand, we would like to ask why it took so long for this to happen, and why could not a reasonable decision have been made in this regard earlier?
