The Hungarian sugar industry should be revitalized, at least for self-support
According to the Minister of Rural Development’s written response to questions from MPs, the establishment of new sugar factories can be considered in the next seven years.
Due to the EU sugar reform and the previous wrong decisions currently there is only one foreign-owned sugar producing plant, while a few years ago, the number of sugar plants was about a dozen. The Hungarian government wants to achive that the current sugar market regulations and the associated support system to remain operational until at least 2020 in the European Union.
