The Honey Breakfast program is starting again
The national Honey Breakfast, which Hungarian beekeepers organize every year in schools and kindergartens with the aim of getting children to learn about domestic, farm-raised honey and later, as adults, to incorporate it into their daily healthy eating habits, will start again in November – the National Hungarian Beekeeping Association (OMME) announced to MTI on Friday.
According to their information, during the program, children can not only discover the taste and diverse uses of honey, but also gain insight into the daily work of beekeepers and the wonderful world of bees.
According to the experience of the past years, approximately 200,000 children participate in the program every year, which has now become one of the best-known and most popular domestic educational initiatives related to honey.
The Honey Breakfast not only draws attention to healthy nutrition, but also emphasizes the importance of sustainability, biodiversity and the protection of bees, thus conveying valuable knowledge for future generations. It also encourages the benefits of purchasing and consuming locally produced agricultural products.
In addition to on-site activities, Hungarian beekeepers will also provide educational materials and playful accessories, as well as bee/honey badges, for schools and kindergartens joining the national program, OMME announced.
