Bedeco Cocoa is back on the shelves
Bedeco cocoa, which became famous in the mid-’80s, reappears on store shelves, in a modern form and in a more health-conscious, light version. Bedeco, once the favorite cocoa of Hungarian households, is now making a comeback through the nutritional supplement brand Nutriversum, offering a nostalgic taste experience for both old and new generations.
Bedeco cocoa was one of the iconic Hungarian products of the 1980s, known to everyone based on its catchy advertisements and distinctive packaging. The product’s popularity in the days before the regime change was not only due to its taste, but also to the fact that it was easy to prepare and dissolved in water or milk in seconds. The famous slogan, “What are you drinking? “Bedeco.” burned into the memory of generations.
After the regime change, Bedeco could not compete with the Western brands flooding the market, and after several concept updates, it disappeared from the store shelves for good in 2016. However, the heritage of the brand did not disappear without a trace: the factory and the specialists who were masters of the production of the drink powder remained in Zirce. After the rise of the fitness industry and a healthy lifestyle, the factory took a new direction.
The Bedeco factory was modernized and, thanks to the transformations, it is capable of producing up to 9 tons of powder, 1,500 liters of liquid, 2 million tablets, 40,000 chocolate bars, and up to half a million capsules per day. As a result of this strategic change, Nutriversum was born, which has since become one of Hungary’s leading dietary supplement brands.
