Another product has entered the national tobacco shops
On December 7, the Parliament decided that as of February 1, 2023, herbal heating sticks will also be subject to a stamp. After a 150-day transition period, from July 1, these products can only be purchased in National Tobacco Stores.
Until now, herbal heating sticks could be purchased outside the National Tobacco Shops. However, the Parliament recently decided that from February 1, 2023, products that do not contain tobacco and are typically herbal-based and can be consumed with heating technology will also be subject to a seal, reports Tobacco Magazine.
From a tax point of view, the legislation creates a separate category for heated products within tobacco products, so these products that do not or only partially contain tobacco or nicotine become subject to excise duty.
