The cattle sector receives further support
The new animal welfare support for the dairy cattle sector has been published, with a budget of HUF 28 billion – announced Minister of Agriculture István Nagy. He added that farmers can apply for the funds between May 1, 2023 and May 31, 2023.
The head of the ministry explained that the funds available in the framework of the call will be used in the case of keeping female milk-producing cattle as a continuation of the similar support that is already running. All applicants must undertake the obligations related to the basic support. Thus, the obligations regarding animal density, caretaker supervision, as well as milking technology and preventive interventions must also be fulfilled. The regulations related to additional subsidies are voluntary. These are regulations for ensuring natural conditions and feeding.
By complying with the obligations, the general well-being of the animals improves, but the costs of keeping animals rise in parallel
Therefore, the support scheme is aimed at compensating the increased additional costs. An application can be submitted by any agricultural producer who is registered as a keeper of animals in the registration systems and whose farms fully comply with the animal welfare regulations in force and the conditions detailed in the call.
The details can be found on the website www.palyazat.gov.hu. The commitment period lasts from May 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024, the head of the ministry added.
