Hungarian tourists in Croatia set another record year
In line with the third consecutive year of increasing numbers, Hungarian tourists in Croatia closed another record year in 2024, with both their number and the number of guest nights increasing by 8 percent, the Budapest office of the Croatian National Tourist Board informed MTI.
The statement recalls that last year nearly 790 thousand Hungarian tourists arrived in Croatia, and the number of guest nights reached 3,880 thousand. Both figures exceed the figures of 2023, which was a record year so far, by 8 percent.
As in previous years, last year, in addition to the Kvarner region, the most Hungarian tourists visited the regions of Istria, Split and Zadar.
The number of guest nights increased in all regions, with Hungarians spending 1,130,000 guest nights in Kvarner, 789,000 in the Istrian peninsula, and 641,000 nights in Zadar and Split County.
The most visited cities in order were Crikvenica, Vir, Rovinj, Porec, Medulin, Rab, and Opatija.
The average length of stay of Hungarian guests was 5 days, 74 percent of them were individual travelers, and 26 percent traveled to the Adriatic state as part of an organized tour. 59 percent of Hungarians chose private accommodation, 27 percent booked a hotel – 4 percent more than in 2023 -, 10 percent of passengers chose campsites, and 2 percent rested as boat tourists.
The data also shows that Hungarians are happy to choose Croatia as a travel destination not only in the summer months, but also in spring, autumn, and even winter. Not only the coast attracts visitors, but also the charming cities, cultural programs or active excursions.
In December, 7 thousand Hungarian tourists and 16 thousand guest nights were registered in Croatia, Opatija, Zagreb, Zadar, Rovinj and Split were the most visited cities.
