Local organizations can spend nearly another 60 million on youth community programs with Tesco’s grant program
The second round of Tesco’s community application program launched on April 7, providing HUF 57 million in support for local projects focusing primarily on children and young adults under the age of 25. In the first round of “Start for the Future,” which started last year, 176 organizations nationwide received support to implement their initiatives, and Tesco customers decided on the distribution of funding with 2.3 million votes. In the current round, applications can be submitted until May 2, and those who advance to the voting stage will again win HUF 500,000, HUF 300,000, or HUF 150,000 in all 60 districts, depending on their rankings. In addition, the organizers will continue to reward outstanding applications based on professional criteria with special awards.
Applications are open for the second round of Tesco’s “Start for the Future” program between April 7 and May 2, primarily for local projects that have a positive impact on children, adolescents and young people. The community initiative aims to provide funding to institutions and organizations across the country that want to improve the living conditions of people under 25 living in their immediate environment. At the same time, the program also leaves the opportunity for support open for applications serving other good causes – such as animals, the elderly or disadvantaged adults.
“The first round of “Start for the Future” was a real success. More than 450 applications were received, of which about 40 percent were forwarded to the voting stage by the professional jury. About 80 percent of these are specifically aimed at the 0-25 age group. I am proud that we were able to support a total of 176 organizations with 57 million forints, in the distribution of which our customers also participated with 2.3 million votes. Thus, among others, a gastronomic experience program, a music camp, a board game club, a city adventure tour, a charity family sports day, a study trip for disadvantaged children, a development session for students with learning difficulties, and the implementation of a fishing daycare center could begin with the help of Tesco. We are confident that the interest will be similarly high this time, and that we can contribute to the implementation of more diverse community ideas than ever before,”
said Nóra Hevesi, Head of Communications at Tesco-Global Zrt.
The “Start for the Future” program provides nearly 1 million forints in support in each of the 60 districts established based on the location of the stores. Applications submitted via the https://tesco.hu/kozosseg/ portal will once again be judged by an independent professional body, which will select the best maximum of 3 projects per district based on the criteria listed in the application document, and the fate of these projects will then be decided by Tesco store customers using the voting tokens they received upon purchase. Applications that advance to the voting stage will win 500,000, 300,000, or 150,000 forints in each district, depending on their ranking. The organizers may also award one or more applications with a special prize based on professional criteria (e.g. elaboration, innovativeness, creativity, sustainability).
