István Nagy drew attention to the fact that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to responsible water management and the expansion of irrigated farming. For this purpose, the law on water management was also amended earlier. The new regulations facilitated the registration of wells for agricultural irrigation purposes and the water law licensing procedure. But we cannot stop here yet, so we are initiating further innovations and simplifications, he added. He emphasized that in order to reduce administrative costs, we are initiating the abolition of the obligation to equip wells with water meters. In relation to areas not deeper than 50 meters and not affected by a protected water base, wells can be legalized at no cost, with a simple notification. In this way, it is still possible to operate the previously established wells that meet the reporting obligation free of charge. The purpose of the regulation is to solve the problem that has been worsening for years, which wells created without a permit represent for agriculture. We are now offering new solutions for this – the minister pointed out.
