In the colony of 23,800 breeding ducks located in Hajdúböszörmény, Hajdú-Bihar County, the decrease in feed and water consumption and egg production raised suspicions. The Nébih laboratory finally confirmed the presence of the H5N1 subtype of the virus.
Animal health specialists immediately started to liquidate the affected herd. Furthermore, a 3 km radius protection zone and a 10 km radius observation zone were designated around the given farm. This case also clearly shows the continued presence of the virus in the country, so strict adherence to epidemic prevention regulations remains of utmost importance.
