The eastern region of Lake Balaton has been expanded with another 110 km of cycling route

This was announced by Péter Princzinger, President of the Hungarian Tourism Association Foundation, on Tuesday, at a press conference held on the occasion of the inauguration of the new sections.

He reminded that the aim of the project, which began in 2018, was to make the Balaton region attractive in all four seasons and to include destinations further from the coast in cycling tourism.

He spoke about the results so far: so far, 1,000 km of hiking routes have been designated, including 75 thematic tours, 145 rest areas have been established, while 100 tour guides have been trained. Five bicycle ports have been established in Balatonfüred, Balatondöldvár, Keszthely, Kapolcs and Badacsony, where cyclists are offered a wide range of services, and a map that fits in their back pocket is now available.

According to Péter Princzinger, this road network has now been expanded by another 110 km in the eastern basin of Lake Balaton. The routes run on low-traffic public roads, good-quality dirt roads and cycle paths, avoiding steep slopes, thus providing a comfortable and safe cycling experience. The new network covers 13 settlements and 20 tourist attractions, including the Feind Winery, which hosted the press conference, the venue for Moto GP races, the Balaton Park Circuit in Balatonfőkajár, and the Nádasdy Castle in Nádasdladány. 300 newly installed signs will help you find your way around.
