In the Supermint program, 13 fishing lakes were inspected by experts from the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih). No problems that warranted immediate official action were revealed during the inspections. However, the operator of one fishing lake did not fulfill its data provision obligation, which is why the authority initiated proceedings in the case. The managers of two additional fishing lakes were called upon by the inspectors of the State Fish Guard Service to fulfill the fish management plan. Based on the experiences of the official inspection and the questionnaire survey from the perspective of guest anglers, two fishing lakes ultimately earned the excellently qualified rating.

The experts from the State Fish Guard Service of Nébih visited 13 fishing lakes across the country. Among other things, they checked whether their operations and management activities were carried out in accordance with the regulations and whether they complied with the data provision obligation.

Two fishing ponds did not stock fish because, according to their declaration, natural reproduction was adequate, but their plan required this obligation. The inspectors warned the fishing ponds concerned to fulfill their commitment/requirement. If this is not done by the end of the plan, the authority will impose a fish management fine.

In one case, the experts objected that the fishing pond only reported the stocking intention to the county fish management authority, but did not record it in the fish management system required by law. They also found that the accompanying documents had not been uploaded. Official proceedings were initiated against the fishing pond.

The inspectors also checked the handling of anglers’ permits. In two cases, it was observed that anglers were asked for their state permits on site and only returned them after the activity was completed. The inspectors drew the attention of the operators/employees of the affected fishing ponds that, although this did not constitute a violation of fish management law, it was unjustified to take the official documents of the anglers and keep them with them.

During the official inspection, the managers and employees of the facilities were able to participate in a guest-oriented survey. In addition to information on tickets available for purchase, the location and equipment of the fishing pond were important, for example. The questionnaire also included questions on the rules to be observed and other services, such as whether written information on the rules of fishing was available on site, whether fishing equipment could be purchased, and whether there was a snack bar or restaurant on the fishing pond. The evaluation was primarily based on the official inspection, but the results of the questionnaire survey also contributed to the final ratings. Two fishing lakes received the “excellent” rating: the Aranyponty Rétimajor Fishing Center in Sárregres and the Akasztói Fishing Park.
