New city guilds
On shopping streets and in shopping quarters stores are trying to fight against the conquest of comfortable online retail. Small artisan shops are offering experiences to customers that can’t be found on the internet. The whole concept is a bit like the street of guilds in the Middle Ages. Futurist Thomas Frey opines that shopping centres and large retail chains are struggling due to the dominance of online giants such as Amazon.
