New EU regulations on cosmetics
The New EU regulations on cosmetics adopted by the EU in 2009, came into force on Thursday. The new policy aims to make the cosmetic products from toothpaste to sunscreen and makeup safer in the European Union.
The new rules are applied to all products manufactured in the EU and for the imported products as well. According to the regulation, manufacturers should comply to more stringent product safety standards. Only those products can be placed on the shelves, on which it is indicated that who is the legal or natural person who takes responsibility for the product. In addition, before marketing, the products should be reported to a Europe-wide database in which, if poisoning occur it is easy to access the components of the product. (MTI)
