SME classification has reached a new level
Many new applications will open for the SME sector in the coming period, which can be the engines of dynamic growth and upgrading. Of particular importance are those EU sources where it is important for both applicants and tenderers to know which companies and groups of companies qualify as SMEs. It is not enough to examine the companies individually; the related company network and ownership structure also determine whether a given company is eligible for support.
The strategic cooperation between OPTEN and Coface, which has its headquarters in France, is a milestone in supporting Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The new partnership has now made it possible to determine with great certainty and with previously unprecedented accuracy whether the group of companies is an SME, even in the case of international corporate groups.
This precise classification is crucial, as SMEs’ participation in tenders is often essential if they want to quickly scale up in terms of employment or sales, and is also a huge help in entering export markets.
While reliable SME classification was previously only possible within national borders, now, thanks to Coface’s database and methodology, more informed decisions can be made globally. Coface is one of the world’s leading providers of company information and credit insurance: it is present in nearly 200 countries, has more than 5,000 employees, and its database contains information on hundreds of millions of companies.
This extensive international background ensures that the best international practices and data are also available to domestic companies. OPTEN, a 31-year-old market leader in company information, offers accurate due diligence in a package in which AI technology is widely used by service providers in addition to manual research.
