Wolt Announces New Partnerships To Drive ESG Initiatives
Finnish food delivery firm Wolt has announced two new strategic partnerships as it seeks to drive its sustainability and social impact initiatives.
Wolt has teamed up with European food innovation initiative, EIT Food, and the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) to build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient food system across Europe.
Jamieson Saab, global head of sustainability at Wolt, stated, “Food is central to everything we do at Wolt — not just as a product we deliver, but as a powerful connector between people, communities, and the planet.
“With these partnerships, we’re expanding our efforts beyond packaging and emissions, and focusing on tangible, systemic change — from tackling food waste and food insecurity to driving greater transparency across our ecosystem.”
EIT Food
The partnership with EIT Food will see Wolt collaborating on initiatives aimed at introducing sustainable packaging solutions and reducing food waste.
Co-funded by the European Union and founded in 2016, EIT Food brings together diverse players across the food value chain — including startups, research institutions, and corporations — to accelerate innovation and promote long-term food system transformation, the food delivery firm noted.
“We support projects, people, and organisations that align with our mission to create positive impact – fast and at scale,” added Katarzyna Sypniewska from EIT Food.
“Together with Wolt, we aim to drive collaboration and deliver real solutions to some of the most pressing food system challenges.”
European Federation of Food Banks
The partnership with FEBA aims to strengthen food assistance systems, minimise surplus food waste, and provide new channels of support for vulnerable communities.
Wolt and FEBA will work together to explore new concepts, such as a virtual food bank, emergency preparedness initiatives, and enhanced food redistribution processes for Wolt Markets.
FEBA is a non-profit organisation supporting a network of over 30 national food banks across Europe. Around 38 million people in the EU are facing food insecurity, according to Wolt.
Saab added, “Supporting local food banks is a natural fit for us. This partnership enables us to use our platform and technology to channel surplus food to where it’s needed most — and to give our customers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully along the way.
