Kifli.hu expands its service areas by opening a new logistics center
Kifli.hu has opened a new logistics center in Biatorbágy, the automated warehouse will enable the further expansion of the online supermarket’s delivery area, faster deliveries and a wider selection – Kifli.hu Shop Kft. told MTI on Friday.
According to their information, the direct investment cost around 15 million euros, this is supplemented by rented equipment and a building. The 16,500 square meter site is the largest investment in the history of the Czech parent company, Rohlik Group.
The smart warehouse has an automated system installed on nearly 5,000 square meters. The essence of the new system is that for 80 percent of the products, employees do not go to the products, but the products go to them. This solution significantly speeds up the preparation of orders. Work processes can thus be up to three times faster, minimizing the error rate and optimizing the use of resources. Artificial intelligence-based inventory management, as well as the cooling system, LED lighting, solar panels and thermal insulation also contribute to efficient and sustainable operation, they indicated.
Kifli.hu has so far shipped orders from the warehouse on Jászberényi út in Budapest, but it has reached its maximum capacity.
The area covered by the online supermarket so far is home to about 3 million people, which represents nearly 1.3 million households. 20 percent of the households covered have already tried Kifli. Almost half of these, i.e. 10 percent of the households in the area, are customers who have placed at least 1 order in the past 3 months. The newly opened area, the Bicske and Biatorbágy region, is home to 55,000 people, which represents nearly 24,000 households, the company announced.
So far, they have delivered to almost 150 settlements (of which Budapest is one), from November the number of settlements will be around 170, and by the end of next year they are aiming for over 200. The Jászberényi út warehouse will be responsible for serving the Pest and eastern regions in the future, and Kifli.hu is also planning to expand in the eastern half of the country.
Kifli.hu Shop Kft. has more than 250 employees, and this will expand as the market and customer base grow.
According to the company, in the financial year from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025, Kifli.hu Shop Kft.’s net sales revenue was 57 billion forints, after 45 billion forints in the previous business year, thus the company achieved a 26 percent increase in sales revenue. The last business year ended with a loss of 2.9 billion forints, and the previous year with a loss of 2.7 billion forints; during this period, the company made significant investments in order to ensure sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness, Kifli.hu told MTI.
