Hungarian-American agricultural relations have gained new momentum
The University of Debrecen and South Dakota State University signed an agreement on the Hungarian-American dual degree precision agricultural engineering training program in a ceremonial setting. Deputy Secretary of State Oszkár Ökrös emphasized in his speech that the agreement goes far beyond the formal agreement between the two institutions and opens a new chapter in the professional relations of the two countries.

The Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that the excellent relations maintained with the new American administration have given a huge boost to bilateral professional cooperation. The dual degree training program represents another bridge between the two countries, which organically fits into our existing American partnerships, such as the cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Perdue University, and paves the way for further future agreements. Knowledge is our most important resource in the 21st century, so it is particularly gratifying that with this agreement we are expanding the opportunities of the young generation through cross-border knowledge sharing, joint research programs and student mobility, he added.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Oszkár Ökrös received Nicolas Rubio, the Attaché for the Central European Region of the United States Department of Agriculture, in his office
The parties agreed that there is enormous potential in developing agro-technological and trade relations between the two countries, but a protracted trade war between the EU and the US would cause serious damage to both parties, so it is strategically important for the parties to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. The Deputy Secretary of State emphasized that differences of opinion should be resolved at the negotiating table, and we therefore urge the European Commission to negotiate effectively with Washington instead of introducing countermeasures.
