Domestic berry production could get a boost
The University of Sopron and its partners are teaming up to revitalise the Hungarian berry sector, which had to face serious challenges in recent years.

For many years, Hungarian berries such as blackberries, raspberries, and currants were staples of summer tables, yet in recent years they have become increasingly scarce on marketplaces from local growers

Climate change, technological backwardness and economic difficulties have led to a decline in crop yields and acreage, while demand continues to grow. In the next three years experts from the University of Sopron will be working on developing new climate-adaptive cultivation technologies, as part of the ClimaPannonia project.
