New impetus for Bük’s economy: Cooperation to strengthen vocational training
In order to strengthen vocational training in Bük, the Bük City Government, Büki Gyógyfürdő Zrt., Nestlé Hungária Kft. and the Vas County Vocational Training Centre have signed a cooperation agreement. The primary goal of the collaboration is to modernize the region’s vocational training infrastructure, which can ensure the supply of labor for the region’s industrial and tourism players.
The agreement focuses on the development of dual vocational training. Within this framework, the participating companies and institutions provide modern infrastructure and experienced professionals for the practical education of young people. The program not only offers development opportunities for students, but also extends to the further training of active employees, thus contributing to increasing the competitiveness of local economic players.
Bük is a decisive center of the region from an economic and labor market perspective. Nestlé’s pet food factory in Bük plays a prominent role in this, as it is the largest employer in the local industry and has also been providing dual training opportunities in shortage professions such as electrician, mechatronic maintenance or mechatronic technician since 2021. These training courses contribute to reducing the shortage of professionals.
The Bük Thermal Bath is also a key player in the local economy. It attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and creates a solid foundation for tourism and hospitality in the region. The cooperation between industry and tourism creates further opportunities for the further development of the city’s economic strategy. The thermal bath is also committed to training young people, which is why it was among the first to join the initiative.
“It is crucial for the development of the city that the key employers, training institutions and the local government work on a coordinated strategy to build vocational training and the future of young people. Together, we will not only help young people choose their careers, but also create the foundations for economic development,”
emphasized Dr. Sándor Németh, Mayor.
The goal of the participants in the agreement is to develop a long-term, sustainable vocational training system. The project may also include the development of new infrastructure, such as a modern student dormitory, which could make vocational training in Bük attractive not only to local young people but also to students living outside the region.
“We are convinced that one of the most important pillars of the success and future development of vocational training is the partnership-based cooperation established within local communities. These relationships not only support current economic cooperation, but also lay the foundation for the further strengthening of dual training, since with the active involvement of labor market players, training can respond to real needs and thus prepare young people even more effectively for the most modern professional jobs,”
said Gergely Pálmai, Deputy State Secretary for Vocational Training at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
The newly signed initiative is also open to additional partners, so it is hoped that more and more local businesses will join in supporting vocational training. The agreement not only provides opportunities for current economic players, but can also lay the foundation for sustainable development and social stability for future generations.
