New airline joins Budapest Airport network
Barely six weeks into the new year, Budapest Airport’s destination offering is expanding again with the addition of a new airline. As part of the VINCI Airports network, the airport will offer a direct flight between Budapest and Shymkent, Kazakhstan, operated by SCAT Airlines, from May 27. The new flight adds a completely new destination to the constantly expanding schedule and creates new opportunities for travelers, writes Pénzcentrum.
SCAT Airlines will operate its flights between Budapest and Shymkent twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flights will be operated by the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX 8200 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers.
Strengthening ties with Central Asia
Francois Berisot, CEO of Budapest Airport, commented on the significance of the new service:
“The new Shymkent service is a significant milestone for Budapest Airport, as it further strengthens the air connection between Central Asia and Hungary. We are delighted to welcome SCAT Airlines to Budapest and look forward to the launch of a service that will benefit both leisure and business travelers, while also creating new connections and opportunities for the two countries in the fields of tourism, economy and trade.”
Shymkent: a meeting of tradition and modernity
Shymkent is a unique destination among the cities directly accessible from Budapest. The town’s history dates back to the Silk Road era and it continues to operate as an important economic and cultural center today. With its authentic bazaars, traditional teahouses and baths, it offers travelers an exciting location, while the stunning landscapes of southern Kazakhstan are also within easy reach.
